Wine cartons for international transport (polystyrene)
Date Listed 24/10/2018
If you like wine, a great way to access your favourites economically in Singapore is bring it in as accompanying baggage. You are allowed up to 10 litres without needing a licence (duty applies)
You beat the inflated prices and enjoy the wine of your choice. There is a customs mobile app which makes the process very easy (the duty is calculated for you and you pay online a day before your arrival) You then proceed through the GREEN channel on arrival.
Transporting wine safely as checked baggage is best done with fit for purpose boxes like these.
They have thick polystyrene tops, bottoms and dividers housed in a cardboard box. I then completely cover these boxes with cellophane/packing tape, strengthening them and making them water resistant. I also fashion handles from cellophane to make it easier for baggage handlers who seem to appreciate the effort.
Not once have I lost even one bottle from many many cases.
While they look a little untidy I have discovered they are very robust and decided I only really need 2 and will dispose the rest.
I have found that these boxes are often hard to find and can be quite expensive.
All have been used with various minor dents, wear and tear. However they are all robust and ready for continued use.
Now reduced to 10 each (for 1 box) can meet up at Newton MRT, - Txt, whatsapp or email is best
